Despite significant strides in women's empowerment globally, Pakistan continues to face persistent challenges when it comes to gender equality, women’s participation in the workforce, leadership roles, and access to health and wellness services. According to the
World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report, Pakistan ranks among the lowest in terms of economic participation and opportunity for women. Deep-rooted social norms, cultural taboos, limited access to education, poor healthcare infrastructure, and the absence of safe spaces for dialogue often restrict women’s agency and freedom to thrive both personally and professionally. These challenges are further compounded by limited awareness and resources dedicated to women’s mental health, reproductive health, and overall well-being.
Issues such as gender-based violence, stigma around women’s health (especially menstrual and reproductive health), and lack of workplace inclusivity remain significant barriers to women’s progress. While women in Pakistan have demonstrated remarkable resilience and leadership across various sectors, there is still a critical need to create platforms that amplify their voices, support their well-being, and foster inclusive environments where they can fully realize their potential.
In response to these pressing issues, the team of Pakistan International Women Day Conference proudly presents the Women’s Empowerment and Wellness Conference (WEWCON) under the theme & Breaking Boundaries: Building Resilient Futures for Women;
This conference serves as a dynamic platform to bring together women leaders, entrepreneurs, health experts, policy makers, and advocates to engage in meaningful conversations around women’s empowerment, health, and wellness. WEWCON aims to challenge societal barriers, address inequalities, and promote strategies that foster resilience, leadership, and holistic well-being for women in Pakistan. Through a series of speaker sessions, panel discussion, and wellness activities, WEWCON seeks to inspire change, share success stories, and co-create actionable solutions for advancing gender equity. By building stronger networks and encouraging cross-sector collaborations, the conference envisions a future where women in Pakistan are empowered, healthy, and supported to lead, innovate, and thrive.
